Hello

My name is Paige Hassel

I am a female student at Texas Christian University studying for a  Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Child Development. I was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and moved to Park City, Utah when I was 11 years old. I was raised by both my mom and dad in a nondenominational Christian home. I have an older brother who is studying at Arizona State University and a younger sister who is still at home in Utah with my parents finishing her high school degree. I am blessed to be a part of a family who cares and loves for everyone and they have truly helped me align myself for success. In the future, I hope to use my higher education from TCU to do what I can to help people in the community have the best lives they can.

THE FULL STORY

Where I am from, where I am now, and where I will be...

My family and I lived in Arizona up until 2014 when we all packed the Uhaul and headed to Utah. We moved to Utah so that my siblings and I could have a more fun and safe childhood. I still consider Arizona home, because the majority of my family still lives there. However, I went through most of my bigger life changes while in Utah. I graduated from high school in 2021 and am now a student at Texas Christian University. I am majoring in Psychology and minoring in Child Development. I am hoping to graduate with my bachelor's in the spring of 2025. After TCU, I want to use my education to help my community. I plan to take new approaches to better people's lives through ways people typically don't associate with their mental health.  Aside from wanting to be a wife and a mother in the future, I want to help people design their living, working, and social spaces to best help the person who will be using it the most enhance their mental health when in the space. I also want to partake in taking care of kids who struggle with nonverbal communication disorders, because I want these smart beautiful children to find their voice even though it may not be the same as the majority of people around them.

My Influences

1 / My Parents

My mom has always taught me to stand up for myself and to stand up for others

My father taught me to help those less fortunate than myself, and to stand up for those who don't know their voice yet

My parents have influenced me to love helping those in need, and volunteering in my community.

2 / Katie Davis

Katie Davis is an author of "Kisses from Katie". She moved to Africa at 18 and worked as a volunteer at an orphanage. She knew that she did not care that it came at some costs to move to Africa at her age, she cared more about helping others. She has been a major influence for my love for helping others.

3 / Malala

Malala stood up for what she believed in at the risk of life or death so that other women could go to school along side her some day. She never gave up, because she knew what she was doing was going to conquer anything going against women in her country going to school. She cared more about her education and helping other women be able to get an education than any dangers that came along with her actions. I want to be this compassionate about something I love that I will risk it all to make a difference for a large group, or a small group.
